yet another band?

Well it appears that I may have a third band. It depends on the interest that we get from others, but there may be a return of Crystalfish, one of my more successful and fun previous bands. Crystalfish had a following in the early '00s and played a great deal as a cover project, mostly in the Oregon district. I played a supporting role, singing backing vocals for the most part and doing a small amount of keyboard work. I'm better at keys now, so I think it would be more comfortable in that regard. There are some personal details that might make it less than optimal for me personally, so I need to examine those aspects, but I remember those times with a lot of fondness, having worked with some very fine musicians and having had a lot of good times. The money wasn't bad either. So we shall see!

Holy crap, Chloe is back to school!

Wow, Chloe started 2nd grade this morning. Time really does move quickly with regard to children growing older.... Everything else goes at the same pace, but she grows faster than I ever expected. I am unemployed at the moment, looking for the right job at the right place so that I don't have to do this job hunting thing again.... a girl can dream, right? I've also been thinking of putting a different kind of show together with an acoustic guitarist... A duet thing performing soft rock for the Rick Sylvester circuit... I need the cash, and it would be something I could still do once re-employed. Maybe a Craigslist ad?

Screaming bunnies

I've been disturbed lately by my cats attacking the baby bunnies in my yard. Bunnies have the most blood-curdling screams when under attack, it's surreal. You can't stop hearing it even after the screaming stops. And they're so cute and soft and it makes me so sad when Midnight and Fluffheart get a hold of one. Twice this week I had to interrupt their stalkings and rescue a bunny. I think im going to get them collars with bells on them. Give the little guys a chance.

My ex husband posted an entry on a Facebook Dayton Musician's group page that I found thought-provoking. He complains of the lack of "scene" in the area and the ensuing conversation points out that both bands and venues are failing in their promotional duties. Bands arent self-promoting and venues aren't advertising. He's totally right.

a hallway

So the hallway where i just painted all the trim is the smallest little section of my house .... it links three rooms and two closets together and the five doors had to be painted, along with the casing and floor base with show molding ... and i also extended my paintign to the baseboard and show molding all around the diningroom since it's connected to this hallway ..... which then led me to decide to refloor the diningroom in hardwood ..... which then made me decide to refloor the bathroom .... which made me decide to get a new bathroom vanity and sink .... and then i decided new doorknobs for all five doors would be a really nice touch. ..... so a simple hallway has become a major project and my back and hands hurt soooooooo badly today!!!

you know how sometimes you can't sleep and.....

...you get up and work on some obscure .asp code? I did that last night. glad i did actually. although i didn't fix the problem with the program i was working on, i went to bed and had weird dreams about SQL connection strings. when i woke up, i knew exactly what the problem was, even though i don't have any clue why i knew that from the weird dreams i had, which i could remember without any problem. so i opened the app in another authoring tool, created new connection strings for all the SQL objects that were supposed to be connected, re-saved the whole kit and caboodle, and voila, it worked. two minutes of work to fix something that had bugged me for months. sometimes dreams may not make sense and sometimes you dont know where inspiration comes from, but always follow the gut instinct right when you get it. just like writing music... if you feel it you have to get it on tape RIGHT then or it;s lost forever.
